Denis Palmer is the founder and President of CDR Controlled Magnetics Inc., a Utah-based company developing next-generation controlled magnetics and transmission technology. Denis brings over three decades of engineering, aerospace, and technology leadership experience to the venture, combining deep technical expertise with hands-on product development skill.
Denis began his technical career with electronics training through United Electronics and the United States Marine Corps, where he developed a foundation in applied electronics that would shape his entire engineering career. He continued his technical education and early career at IBM, working on unit record equipment during an era when engineers made deliberate, tested modifications rather than speculative changes — an approach that instilled in him a rigorous, discovery-driven engineering philosophy.
Denis subsequently spent seven years in the aerospace industry, contributing to development and control-systems lab work on the Milstar satellite program, one of the U.S. military's most advanced secure communications satellite systems. This period sharpened his skills in precision control systems and mission-critical hardware design.
At Millennial Research (MRC), Denis spent 15 years developing magnetic motors and controllers, work that resulted in worldwide patents covering these generator and motor technologies. His innovations there became a foundational reference point for numerous subsequent motor developments across multiple products industry-wide, influencing later designs through both direct licensing and comparative engineering by other developers building on the underlying magnetics principles he helped establish.
Denis also built and ran a computer repair company for a decade, giving him a rare blend of enterprise technology operations experience alongside deep hardware engineering credentials.
Denis made his first major technology discovery in 1980 and has continued refining it over the decades since, alongside roughly five additional proven innovations that have yet to reach market — motivating his decision to establish a dedicated development effort, including work carried out in Brazil, to bring these technologies forward.
Today, as President of CDR Controlled Magnetics, Denis leads the commercialization of controlled magnetics and transmission systems, drawing on a career that spans military electronics, IBM, aerospace satellite systems, and independent entrepreneurship.
